C. Brian Strickland
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Brian Strickland is responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, risk management, and human resources activities. He is also actively involved in setting strategy for corporate and fund raising initiatives.
Strickland joined JMI Realty in October 2009 and has 20 years of corporate finance experience and most recently was CFO and Executive Vice President of CNL Hotels & Resorts (“CHR”), then the second largest hotel REIT in the United States. Strickland provided financial and strategic leadership to CHR from its inaugural acquisition in 1998 through the economic decline in 2001-2003 and ultimately the timely $6.6 billion sale of the company in 2007.
Strickland joined CHR from Wyndham International (NYSE: Formerly WYN) where he was Vice President of Taxation and was responsible for strategic tax planning and compliance matters. He joined Wyndham in 1990 and was involved in Wyndham Hotel Corporation’s IPO in 1996 and its subsequent merger with Patriot American Hospitality (NYSE: PAH) in 1998.
Prior to joining Wyndham, Strickland served at Trammel Crow Company and Ernst & Whinney in various tax planning and compliance roles.
Strickland’s experience includes mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, public security investments, private placements, public equity offerings, public debt offerings, bank debt, tax, compliance, and filing public financials.
