The Hotel Solamar, a Kimpton Boutique Hotel, is a 10-story, 235-room full-service boutique hotel. Located on the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter the Hotel Solamar was designed to resemble a brick warehouse building that blends with the area’s historic charm. In its location along J Street, the hotel serves as the gateway from the Gaslamp Quarter to the revitalized Ballpark District. The hotel serves the expanding convention center and tourist destination market in the heart of downtown San Diego.Hotel amenities include JSix, a 120-seat, three-meal restaurant, and a 10,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck and terrace. The rooftop pool deck is home to J6bar, a lively entertainment and recreation center overlooking the revitalized J Street corridor. Additionally, the hotel includes 7,000 square feet of specialty retail space located along J Street.On August 1, 2006, JMI Realty announced that it sold the Hotel Solamar to LaSalle Hotel Properties (NYSE: LHO) for $87 million. JMI Realty led the ground-up development of the hotel, oversaw its construction and, together with JMI Inc. and Sycuan Tribal Development Corporation, funded the project, which opened in April 2005.
